LATEST NEWS.............. Alex's next race competition     -  Scunthorpe Amateur meeting  -     Saturday 26th January 2008 -  1pm start at  Scunthorpe Raceway, North Lincolnshire.


Tuesday 13th March          Alex rides at Arena Essex Raceway in the Lakeside Hammers Academy day, alongside Lakeside Hammers team

Thursday 15th March         Alex shows how much he is improving with some good outings at the Poole Pirates Press & Practice day

Sunday 18th March            The "Gremlins" took over and Alex only managed 3/4 lap at Sittingbourne as both electrics failed in the bitter cold
Sunday 25th March            Once again Alex pushed himself in training at Oxford in many outings trying different set ups
Wednesday 28th March      Poole Pirates Academy training at the Wimborne Road

Friday 30th March              Alex rides for the Poole Pirates Academy side at Somerset and scores 4 points (a heat win and a third )

                                      until mechanical problems ( clutch ) stopped him racing after 2 heats.


Sunday 1st April                Alex returns to Reading training track for a hard 6 hour session despite "clutch  gremlins"                 

Without a ride for 7 / 10 days a chance to replace parts and rebuild both machines in time for Poole on Wednesday 11th April

Wednesday 11th April        Poole Pirates Academy v Somerset Academy Challenge and Alex scores 5 (+3 ) points

Friday 13th April                Second half at Somerset v Newport match and Alex has 3 third places.

Sunday 15th April              Reading Training day and Alex has a very fast day with lots of set up testing.

Friday 20th April                Lakeside Academy and Alex's night comes to an abrupt end, falling heavily in his 1st race.

Sunday 22nd April             Southern Track Riders at Kings Lynn and Alex rode well, but up against experienced riders.

Friday 27th April                Alex gets his first ride on the new Weymouth track after the Oxford meeting and goes well.


Wednesday 2nd May         Poole Pirates Academy training at Wimborne Road after the Peterborough Panthers match

Saturday 5th May              A short spin at Weymouth sees Alex lift out of bend 2 and hit fence, but was OK.

Monday 7th May                Southern Track Riders, Newport  -  Postponed due to rain

Wednesday 9th May          Poole Pirates Academy training  -  Postponed after Wolverhampton match due to rain.

Sunday 13th May              Newport / Oxford training ?  -  Both Postponed by bad weather.

Friday 18th May                Alex rides for Poole Quays Academy team at Lakeside Hammers in the First League match

Saturday 19th May            2nd Half at the Weymouth  v  Scunthorpe  Conference League match

Wednesday 12th Sept       Poole - 2nd Half  - Alex takes a bad tumble,  lifting out of bend two he was thrown into bend 3 out of shape at

                                      high speed  but thankfully walked away unscathed with very little damage. Alex and mechanic, dad, learnt

                                      some lessons and will put right for Friday's visit to Somerset

Friday 14th Sept               Somerset v Redcar - 2nd Half Individual 8 Rider Competition - Alex scores 6 points from 3 rides ( 3, 3, f/ex )

                                      and finishes second behind Kyle Newman

                                      Alex won his first 2 races from the gate and fell on the last bend in his final race whilst trying to go round

                                      the outside of Kyle Newman for the win

                                      Alex is looking more confident every trip out after getting some great help from Ricky, Steve & Dale

Wednesday 19th Sept       Poole  2nd Half   - Coventry meeting abandoned heat 12

Friday 21st Sept               Alex is invited by Peter Oakes to ride at No 6 for Oxford at Plymouth, and up against some strong riders

                                      scores 1 point but starts to show he is not far off the pace with some further improvement in his gating. However

                                      his Conference League debut was marred slightly in his final ride when he overcooked turn 2

                                      of Plymouths tight track and hit the fence hard, but after a spell of medical attention stood up to a warm round

                                      of applause from the friendly home crowd and limped back to the pits to contemplate his tough introduction

                                      to league racing.

Friday 28th Sept               Asked to stand as meeting reserve at Oxford for the Best pairs  - Rained off

Saturday 29th Sept           Alex rides for Poole Pirates Academy at Eastbourne and scores 5 points + 1 bonus and a snapped chain in

                                      his second ride while leading from the gate may have robbed him of his first 'paid' maximum.

Sunday 30th Sept             Newport  -  Training school  -  Full of confidence from the previous night Alex gathered more speed as the

                                      day progressed whilst trying different set ups.


Wednesday 3rd Oct           Poole 2nd Half Academy training - Alex is gaining speed & confidence all the time with much

                                      appreciated encouragement from Middlo

Saturday 6th Oct               Rye House - Alex rode for the Poole Pirates Academy side and had a disappointing first visit to Rye.

                                      We made a big mistake with the set up and the track was far more slick than we anticipated and, with no time

                                      to make big changes, Alex struggled with the machine over spinning. A big lesson learnt.

Friday 12th Oct                 Alex rides for Oxford at No 4 at Plymouth in The Conference Trophy, scoring 1 point from 3 rides.

Sunday 14th Oct               Newport training - A good chance to work on a few things 

Sunday 21st Oct               Alex rides for The Wimbledon 'Dons' at Sittingbourne in the Spraytex 4 Team Tournament - He scores 6 points

                                      as his side wins the trophy and he collects his 1st ever Speedway Trophy.

Wednesday 24th Oct         Sittingbourne - Invited training day with Kelvin Tatum and Alex goes really well and very fast. Kelvin was full

                                      of praise for the "phenomenal" progress he has made.

Sunday 28th Oct               Rye House - Training day.    A chance to shake off the poor Academy meeting at Rye House earlier in the

                                      month and Alex rode very well on a very wet trackgaining a good responses and advice from Len Silver and

                                      ohn Sampford.


Saturday 3rd Nov              Rye House training day  -  Alex had the chance to get out on a dry track and build his speed up and was thrilled

                                      to get some expert coaching from Tommy Allen .

Sunday 4th Nov                Training day at Reading Valuable race practice with Kyle Hughes

Saturday 10th Nov             Sittingbourne - Club Summer Tournament / St Johns Trophy - Scores 12 points (3,3,2,2,2 ) 4th overall

                                      and 4th in final  - Fantastic progress and another good day

Saturday 17th Nov            Kings Lynn  -  Private training day - Alex got up to real racing speed  and had a very good day, marred by

                                      the unfortunate accident to Brendan Johnson, whilst chasing Alex, ran out of fuel going fast into bend 3,

                                      straightened up and met the fence resulting in a broken ankle.

Sunday 16th Dec              Newport    -  A few tumbles but learnt a lot about how to handle the ever increasing speed he is showing.

Sunday 30th Dec              Sittingbourne  -  Nathan Gaymer Memorial Trophy - Racing cancelled due to a wet track

Sunday 13th January 08    Newport   - Training

Saturday 19th January      Mildenhall - This will be Alex's very first trip for their 2008 training school

Saturday 26th January      Scunthorpe - Alex will race in their first Amateur Meeting of 2008
